This morning at breakfast we were watching Jack Hanna’s program. If you remember, he used to be part of the Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom. We watched it whenever it was on when I was a kid. It is always fun watching the exotic animals and see how they care for them. However, this morning, as I watched Jack Hanna’s program (similar to Wild Kingdom) he was listing all the endangered animals in the world from the 10th one to the number one endangered specie. I believe as Christians we are to be good stewards of God’s creation and do the best we can to take care of the animals.
However, this morning, I am reminded of many construction projects held up because of some tiny creature that is declared extinct or close to extinction. For example, the spotted owl or some little fish that holds up an entire project for the good of mankind. What struck me this morning is the difference in thinking. The reason evolutionists try to save every little creature is that they think they are going to disrupt the process of evolution and mankind is going to sink the ship and we will all quit evolving. As a believer, I have a completely different view. I desire to save as many creatures as we can just because they are God’s creation and He put mankind in charge of caring for them.
I don’t want to get into some long discussion about evolution or creation. What struck me was just the idea of the difference in the intent of we humans and how we relate to the world around us. Darwinian evolutionists view the world through the eyeglass that they are the only keepers of earth because it just happened out of chance or luck, but as a believer in Christ, I see God as the designer and preserver of the earth and He will keep it intact for us to enjoy.
