A Radical Idea

Today I was thinking about 12 principles that we believers, all around the world could come together on.  We are so filled with divisions, denominations, etc. that nobody seems to get along with anyone else spiritually.

I know the Scripture talks about the unity of the Body.  It talks about loving one another.  But, in my experience as a preacher, I find that most Christians are happy with their little group of friends and do not really want fellowship as Paul mentioned.

I know there is that danger of the One World Church or Religion.  We do not want to go there.  That is the apostate church.  America is getting it’s fill of a new emerging Christianity which will fill the bill for beginning the New World Religion.  These emerging churches are filled with metaphysical teachings and eastern dialogue so much and they do not use the Bible as their source.  People want an experience that makes them feel good and they have resorted to putting the Bible on the back shelf and introducing eastern mysticism to their congregations.  It is shocking, but the Word of God bears out that in the last days we would begin to see a falling away from the faith.

So I put on my old thinking cap and listed 12 principles that should bring all genuine believers together.  I thought to myself, “Wouldn’t it be nice to have tens of thousands of believers all around the world uniting in prayer together looking for the return of our Lord while battling the apostasy that is coming.”  I also thought, could that be possible on the internet.  I’m not sure.  Perhaps Facebook would be a place to start.

Well, here are my 12 points for Genuine Believers to rally together around the world.  They will seem a bit radical to many who are steeped in denominationalism.  I do not think this list is the end of all rational Christian thought.  It was just a starting place that I tried to put together.  See what you think?

  1. Our only source of Truth is The Word of God, commonly referred to as The Bible.
  2. Our only Savior is Jesus Christ The Lord; The Perfect Lamb of God Who saves us from our sins.
  3. Our only church is the Body of Believers in Christ, both local and universal.
  4. Our lives are dedicated to the service and glory of God Almighty: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  5. Our mission is to go into the entire world and preach the Gospel to every person, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, The Son of God, and The Holy Spirit of God, teaching new believers to follow all the things that Christ commanded us to do.
  6. Our faith is established through reading and hearing The Word of God.
  7. We reject any extra Biblical traditions and teachings that are presented as God’s way of doing things and rely only on The Word of God for our faith, our instruction in righteousness, and our service to God.  No earthly person takes precedence over what God says in His Word.
  8. We have only One Head, The Lord Jesus Christ.
  9. Proclaiming and preaching the Word of God, both in written form and spoken form, is how people are confronted with the Gospel in order to be saved.
  10. Understanding that we live in the last days before Christ’s return, and knowing that many events will unfold to disengage and distract believers in Christ, we hold fast to our faith in Christ that has set us free from our sin and bondage.
  11. Our only hope is in the Gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord and that hope is not hope as the world knows hope, but it is a certain hope knowing that Christ Jesus is coming back to this world to take us to be with Him forever and ever.
  12. We humbly set aside our own denominational practices and traditions so that we can agreeably come together with a common foundation of belief, the knowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord of All and that salvation is by faith in Him and rests completely upon His sacrifice on the cross of Calvary, apart from any works of righteousness, and is through Him alone apart from any church, creed,  formality, preacher, priest, guru or rabbi.
