A Soft Gospel.

A Soft Gospel

What bothers me today about our churches is that many preach a soft, weakened gospel along with the limitations being imposed upon our preaching in Corporate Churches by the government.

You don’t hear much about “sin” these days. We hear about “love” constantly but little about God’s judgment upon sin. What are we afraid of? Conflict with the world? Are we trying so hard to be friends with the world that we are no longer good friends with The Lord Jesus? Do we expect the gospel to be non-confrontational? Are they really little “white” lies? Or do we call things sins against a Holy God?

I have a beef with Evangelical Christians today because they, or should I say “we, have brought the world’s philosophy and standards into our churches and made weaklings out of our congregations. Many are no longer tough spiritually. They weep and moan while asking “Why doesn’t God bless me?” They seem think God is their “sugar daddy” giving them money and things, material possessions.

People, believers have no stamina today. We hug everybody and think that we are living a godly life passing the love around. My gracious, Hollywood does that! Have you ever noticed that people on these shows are constantly hugging one another. I was watching The Voice this past season and Carson was hugging the young girls everytime they came on stage to see their results. That is not Christianity. It’s nice, I suppose, but that is not the kind of love that God talks about in His Word. The world puts forth a “counterfeit” kind of love.

We have adopted the world’s standards for the church and the church has become less of a factor in leading people to faith in Christ. We think we can win the world to Christ by becoming more worldly. It is an age old problem. From the beginning of time, people have struggled with living holy lives. The temptation of a secular godless world have caused many professing belivers to ship wreck.

A watered down gospel is not what Christ brought to us. He lived a sinless life without offense, yet they dragged him into court and nailed Him to a cross. The devil doesn’t like purity and wholesomeness. He seeks to devour Christians and destroy them and he does that by bringing the alurement of the world to their attention.

We try to win young people to Christ by emulating the world’s music and dress. There is not much difference today between a person who calls himself a believer and one who is not. Don’t you think something ought to be different about the way we live? Should we not look like believers, act like believers, and posess a righteous character.

People in our churches cannot defend their faith. They do not know fundamental doctrine. They have not been taught by their pastors, in my opinion. Instead preachers are busy preaching nice sermons that make them look good without offending anyone. God forbid that we should stir up the pot a little in our churches and disrupt the flow of money into the coffers.

A soft gospel is just what the Bible predicts for these last days. We are not cold nor hot. Our churches are just luke warm social centers for people to fellowship. May God wake us up before it is too late to change!
