Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
(This is a message to those who have believed in Jesus Christ, repented of their sins and sought to follow Him in life.)
Paul speak of a oneness in our confidence toward God. It is our singular task to be confident, by faith, that God has begun a great work within us and He will keep on perfecting us until He comes when He will make us perfect.
We must have an unshaken confidence in God’s salvation. We must, by faith, continually keep believing that God is working in us and that He will complete His good work. We must be assured that He will do what He says in His Word. It must resonate within the very core of our being so that we can remain confident no matter what comes our way.
Confidence and assurance are two of the striking traits of genuine believers. Believers know God personally and God’s Spirit actually lives in the heart and spirit of every believer. John 14:16 assures us that God’s Comforter will abide with us forever and He actually bears witness with us that we are going to be redeemed someday and presented perfect before God. This is a positive fact, that the presence of the Holy Spirit within the believer’s body is the guarantee of the believer’s ultimate salvation. II Corinthians 1:22
The believer has absolute confidence in the work of salvation which God has begun in his life. The work that God does is a good work, that is, it is a work that revolutionizes or radically changes the life of the believer. We become new persons in Christ, a new creation. II Corinthians 5:17. We are not the same as we were before salvation.
Keep in mind that this good work is incomplete as long as the believer lives on this earth. He is never perfected while he is in his human flesh. There is always work for God to do within us. The wonderful part of all of this is that this good work is to be completed when Jesus Christ our Lord returns to this earth and we will be transformed into a perfect man and given a perfect body and we will worship and serve the Lord Jesus in perfection throughout eternity. II Timothy 1:12.
