In our society today, the choices one has for doing good are not always that obvious. We are in a spiritual crises in America and it is not obvious to many people which way to go to do what is right. After all, who decides what is right and what is wrong anyway? What gives anyone the right to cast moral judgments about anything in life?
What do you use for your moral aptitude? Do you take your friends advice or the opinions of your peers (the crowd you hang with) in order to decide what is acceptable? Where did they get their standards for morality? One can float around in this life doing what everyone else is doing and possibly end up with some heavily problematic circumstances.
Our colleges are teaching moral relativism, which says that whatever you decide is moral is okay. It also teaches that whatever society accepts as it changes and transforms from one generation to another is okay.
With all the confusion, I am not surprised that people have a difficult time deciding what is right and good and many have no idea about where to look.
May I suggest to you that the only advice on what’s right and wrong is the book that claims to be from God, the Bible. It will help you to find your way in a humanistic world that only has opinions from other human beings. I understand that evolution has conveniently written God out of the equation along with our morals, but I believe that God is alive and well and watching our every move.
This Scriptures have inspired and transformed the lives of many people for thousands of years, however, much of the morality in America is contradictory to what God has told us was right. You can take your chances and ignore what it says, but someday you will regret that decision and the stakes are for eternity.
I agree with most of you reading this that most religion is boring and off track. I define religion as “man-made rules and regulations put upon people to burden them down and control them.” Personally, I dislike religion, but I love the God of the Bible Who sacrificed His Son for us. Its message is freeing and liberating, but it does have a lot to say about how we are to live in this life in preparation for eternity.
This life is just the beginning! It is not all there is! We are to live this life in view of what is coming next which will never end. How do I know this? Because when God created man and woman, He breathed into them life and that life from God is life that will never cease. You will live somewhere forever and what you are doing now is only a prelude for what is to come. What you choose to do now counts for or against you in the life to come.
The difficulty is discovering true good which is NOT so obvious. If you get your morality from TV or the movies, you are being sucked into a destructive cycle of immorality and influenced to do wrong more than you perceive. It is an immoral message that those who have followed it have been through some disheartening experiences that they wish they could take back and redo. TV and the movies are laden with gross immorality which can lead you to a life of sadness and heartache, especially when you are vulnerable.
So what are you doing with your life? Are you following what is obvious as a lifestyle in our society or will you take a different road? Some day you will not have to answer to your mom or your dad, nor your friends or the government. You will have to answer to God Himself as you stand before Him.
You may be asking the question, What can I do now? My life has not been on track with God’s morality! Not to worry or fear. God has the solution for you. It is called “repentance.” That means you decide to change your ways and go the opposite direction. It means you trust God with your life and follow His morality with His help. After all, He created you to be a beautiful creature that honors and represents Him. Jesus died for all your sins and He will forgive you upon asking. Then, begin to read this transformational book and it will change your life. You will not understand all of it, no one does. But what you do understand will help you. I’m praying for you!
