Will There Be Children in God’s New Heavens and New Earth
Many people who have lost a child wonder if they will ever see that child again. Sometimes they long for the opportunity, which they missed, of raising that child and watching him or her grow up. I lost a child years ago and I understand some of the struggles one goes through the rest of life.
I was asked by a person who had just lost their child: “How do you ever get over it?” I said, “You never get over it, you just learn to live with it.”
Many blame their self for what happened or what they could have done differently to change the outcome. I know. I still have a heart filled with painful memories and suffer some difficult tear drenched days. However, I find my hope is in God and I know I’ll see my child one day.
There are several indications of what it will be like in Heaven and in the New Earth or the restored earth at the end of the ages. We do not know for sure, but here are some thoughts. Some believe that according to Isaiah 11 and 66 that there will be infants and children there. In the Gospels, Matthew 19:14, Mark 10:14, and Luke 18:16 Jesus said “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of Heaven.” So from these passages, we have some indications that children, who are not grown up yet, will be a part of the heavenly kingdom.
Parents who did not get to raise their child here on this earth will not only be with them again but perhaps have the opportunity to raise them up in the new earth in a perfect environment without all the corruption that exists on earth now. Those who lost a child at birth or miscarried will see their child again. He will not let you down. Those aborted children will be there and you will see them again. The Kingdom of Heaven is full of millions and millions of children and the Father is watching over them.
Those children who had a poor childhood will also grow up in a beautiful new earth unharmed, fully fed and without violence. What God will do we do not absolutely know for sure, but we only have some indications from Scripture available.
This is a comfort to me and hopefully to all parents who have lost a child or had one taken from them. The hope that they will see him or her one day and the days will be filled with joy and rejoicing for what God has done for us and we will have the joy of not only seeing our child but perhaps seeing them grow up into adulthood. I like to hold onto that belief for it gives me great comfort.
I know my God and I know He will bless abundantly, both now and in the future. Do not worry and fret. Jesus Christ is near to you and wants you to be comforted through the Holy Spirit. He gives us that assurance in His Word.
If you are a believer in Christ Jesus as Lord, then you have a wonderful hope that you will see your child one day. God will never let you down, but your days will be filled with constant joy because God loves you and The Lord Jesus has prepared a beautiful place for you. If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, you are headed in a different direction and there are no words of comfort I can give you because no one gives us this message of hope but Christ Jesus.
We know that all children go to Heaven when they leave this earth because they did not reach the age of accountability to God. We also know that all who have put their trust in the Lord Jesus are assured of Heaven. I trust that brings you comfort and a longing to serve God with all your heart and being.
If you are in a religion that doesn’t give you that kind of assurance, then it is a man-made religion and not the truth of God’s Word. Read it for yourself so you will know. Begin in the Gospel of John and let the Holy Spirit illumine you with the truth. Never accept what any man or woman tells you if it is not in God’s Book.
May God Bless You!
